Did you know that Louviers has been a cloth town that built its reputation partly on woollen cloth-making? The museum testifies to the area's speciality, which was both an economic and an artistic activity. You will be able to see the machines used at the time: looms, carders and fulling stocks. Comprehensive temporary exhibitions are organised several times a year on subjects related to the local history or on more contemporary themes ranging from contemporary art to interior design.
Astonishing: the wool used in Louviers did not come from Norman sheep but from Spanish sheep! It was shipped by sea or inland waterways to the town.
