Overlooking the Eure valley, the castle of Ivry was one of the first stone castles built in Normandy and is said to have been used as a model for the Tower of London. Due to its imposing and strategic position at the border, and with its "huge and well-fortified tower", it has been at stake in feudal wars for several centuries, but also in battles between the Duchy of Normandy and the Capetian kings. The ruins of this Norman castle have been turned into a pleasant walk overlooking the Eure valley.

Legend has it that the architect of the castle, Lanfred, was beheaded after the construction so that his skill could not be used by others. The archaeological excavations that took place here now consider this castle as an international reference.
