Enjoy a complete change of scene on a gentle but colourful walk around Giverny. Every corner of this enchanting little village has kept its character and preserved a part of the Impressionist past! On the opposite, north bank of the Seine, enjoy a trip to Vernon to discover its Vieux-Moulin, a mill suspended over the water, and the grand nearby Château de Bizy. Wander around the well-flowered lanes of Lyons-la-Forêt, a member of the association Les Plus Beaux Villages de France. Admire its splendid, typically Norman homes.

And close to Le Neubourg, a characterful town, head out to discover an exceptional historic monument in the shape of the Château du Champ de Bataille, with Baroque gardens to take your breath away. Head off to conquer the historic village of Pont-de-l’Arche, discovering its rich past, its medieval lanes and its old-stone buildings. At Gaillon, marvel at the château dominating the town, its architecture combining Flamboyant Gothic and Renaissance styles and now being entirely restored as a fine listed historic monument. Savour refreshing moments in our many villages set beside the Risle River, such as Le Bec-Hellouin and Beaumont-le-Roger.

Fall for the charms of the typical Normandy streets in the little town of Bernay and explore those of Pont-Audemer, nicknamed Normandy’s Little Venice. Explore the lovely riverside village of Les Andelys and stride out from it to conquer Château-Gaillard, a gem of a 12th-century ruined castle. From on high, admire the views over the Seine Valley and the plain beyond.

As you wander around these enchanting places, admire the way the rich heritage of our towns and typical Normandy villages has been put to the fore. In short, you’ll have understood – the Eure certainly isn’t lacking in character-packed towns and villages to visit!
